This Memorial Day, we pause to honor all who have served and sacrificed for our country – including the LGBTQ+ service members who answered the call even when the country did not always honor them in return.
From the brave individuals who served under “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” to the transgender troops who have served openly in recent years, LGBTQ+ Americans have always been part of our nation’s defense. We remember them today, and we recommit to building the country they deserved — one that is truly free and equal for all.
